Traffic will be limited to alternating use of one lane on a portion of Lawrence Road near the Centennial Road overcrossing Feb. 19-20 and 26-28. Engineers are conducting soil testing in that area as part of a geotechnical study. The drilling activity will also temporarily close about 20 parking spaces along Lawrence Road near Strawberry Gate Feb. 19-20 and 26-28.
The limited traffic flow will be 24 hours a day with flaggers controlling the flow of traffic between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Outside of those hours, an automatic traffic signal system will control the flow of traffic. Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to use Lawrence Road during this work and cyclists will need to walk their bicycles through the designated pedestrian pathway.
About 20 parking spaces along Lawrence Road will be used to operate and store equipment needed for the soil sampling during the week. As an alternative, there are 100 available spaces at no charge at the Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS). The Upper Hill shuttle route operates from the Hall to the Lab every 15 minutes between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. any Blue route shuttle on request will take you to the Hall. The Upper Hill shuttle stops at Buildings 67/72 and the Strawberry Gate. To use the parking at LHS, park in Terrace Lots 1, 2, or 3, and display your Lab parking placard.
