From July 1 to August 31, the Lab is changing daily parking requirements to match the off-hour parking regulations which allow anyone with a Lab badge to park at the Lab at any time. General and blue triangle parking spaces will be open to anyone with a Lab badge. Spaces reserved for orange circles, government vehicles, EV charging, carpools, disability spaces, and other specially marked spaces are not included in the summer parking program.
The Lab currently has about 500 unused parking spaces each day even though about 2,000 persons a day are badging into the Lab’s hill site. Rather than leaving these spaces unused, they will be available to those who don’t hold a parking permit which includes affiliates, non-construction contractors, students, and interns. Parking utilization will be reviewed throughout the summer to see what, if any, changes should be made to the Lab’s parking program.
